Day 46

Day 46
October 23, 2015

After three days of rest it felt good to get back on my bike.  I started out just as the sun was peeking up above the bayou.  It was a beautiful sight.  I was hoping to get as many miles behind me before the wind picked up.  I made it about 12 miles.  I was heading due east so, of course, the wind was blowing straight out of the east at about 10 miles per hour.  If this had been during my early days of this journey it would have frustrated me but I have made peace with the wind.  I just find a good cadence that works for me and enjoy the ride.  It was a 92 mile day so the wind made my day a bit longer but the weather was nice so all in all a good day.

Marilyn left the house in Slidell a couple of hours after me and caught up with me in Long Beach, Mississippi.  We found a good seafood restaurant and enjoyed a leisurely lunch.  As is often the case, a couple stopped by the RV and asked about Water Cycle.  We enjoyed a nice visit with them,  gave them a Water Cycle  post card then I headed off again.    My ride took me along some of the beautiful, quiet Gulf beaches, past stately antebellum homes in Pass Christian that survived hurricane Katrina and also along the crowded casino area of Biloxi.    It made for great variety.

Tomorrow we head over the Gulf Shores, Alabama.  It’s a shorter day but I still plan to leave early to gain some miles before the wind picks up.
