The Heart of the Matter - Investing in Hope
It is very rewarding to see so many people participating with donations upon hearing how God is using Jessie’s Well story to bring hope to thousands in the Dominican Republic. But what happened recently when I was having my car serviced reminded me of what matters most.
We are now only 43 days away from the start of Water Cycle USA 2015. Preparations are now down to the last few items on the checklist. One critical item was to have the vehicles serviced and in good order for the 7000+ mile round trip.
I dropped by the service garage that I have used for many years to pick up my vehicle. As the proprietor’s wife handed me the keys she said there was an envelope on the seat of the car for me.
Sure enough, as I opened the car door there was an envelope on the seat. Enclosed in the envelope was a variety of bills with a short note. The mechanics had each taken what they had in their wallets and combined it as a donation to Jessie’s Well.
Tears began to fill my eyes with gratefulness for how God continues to touch hearts through this story – a story that begins and ends with His generous grace. That’s the heart of the matter.
