Jessie's Well Blog
Day 10
Day 10
September 17, 2015
Today we covered a good bit of ground riding from Arco, Idaho to Ririe, Idaho which is east of Idaho Falls. Total mileage was 89. There was a strong wind today mostly at my back but occasionally moved to the side with large gusts that would make keeping the bike on track a little tricky. Overall a good day.
As has been the case all along this journey, we were given a cash donation by our neighbors at the campground in Arco. They saw the logos, went online and checked out Jessie’s Well Foundation. What a blessing it is when total strangers find out what God is doing with Jessie’s Well and Water Cycle and become generous givers. We are humbled by the opportunity to tell this story.
Today as I rode, I found myself thinking a lot about Jessie. When she was young, we rode hundreds of miles together on my mountain bike. I rigged up a super sturdy child seat on the back and off we went on mountain bike trails. As she got older, she graduated to a trailer bike that attached to the seat post of my mountain bike and we never slowed down. She used to sit behind me and chatter away as I was gasping for breath up the hills – usually asking endless questions. Today, as I rode I imagined her riding behind me asking questions and pointing out landscapes along the way. That helped the miles go by quickly.
Tomorrow, I climb over Teton pass with an elevation of 8400 feet. I am hopeful for clear weather for some nice views and photos.
