Day 21
Day 21
September 28, 2015
I got another early start this morning leaving Fort Collins as the sun was coming up. I knew it would be a long day with heavy traffic most of the day. I managed to navigate around the Denver area by going through Boulder and Golden (to the west of Denver).
Early in the day I happened upon a Compassion Experience crew set up at Life Bridge Church in Longmont. I stopped in to say “hi.” The Compassion Experience is a mobile, hands on, experiential exhibit of third world poverty and the work Compassion is doing to rescue children from poverty. One of the exhibits at Life Bridge Church was the Dominican Republic so we enjoyed a photo opp and then I was back on the road.
Later in the afternoon I happened upon some Colorado wildlife in the form of a rattlesnake stretched across the pavement. I stopped to get a photo which he took issue with. After a brief stand-off I gave him plenty of room and continued on my way.
Our plan was to stay at the WalMart parking lot in Castle Rock but we discovered they don’t allow overnight parking at that store so we went to plan “B” and drove 12 miles out of town to an RV park.
The day was filled mostly with negotiating through and around heavy traffic. I’m glad to have this day behind me. Tomorrow we arrive at Compassion headquarters. We are looking forward to being there and seeing old and new friends.
