Day 37
Day 37
October 14, 2015
We began our ride today from Diana, Texas and ended in Shreveport, Louisiana. We crossed the Louisiana state line early in the afternoon. The morning temperature was a very pleasant 59 degrees but by late morning it was scorching hot with a high in the upper 90’s. Our terrain was mostly rolling which makes for challenging riding. It is difficult to keep a steady cadence when the terrain changes often for short sections of up and down. At one point we enjoyed drafting behind a large tractor pulling a hay bailer traveling along at about 17 miles per hour. It was the perfect ride and worth inhaling diesel smoke for a while. It was fun crossing the Louisiana state line feeling like we are moving east quickly. Tomorrow is a fairly long day so we plan to start riding at first light so as to make as many miles as possible before it gets so hot. That said – it’s an early bed time tonight.
