Day 40

Day 40
October 17, 2015

We got an early start from Monroe, Louisiana this morning knowing we had a long day ahead to Natchez, Mississippi.  We battled a heavy side wind and occasional headwind most of the day but did get a nice break with a tail wind several times.  All in all we made incredible time averaging 18 miles per hour for 91 miles.  Needless to say we arrived in Natchez much earlier than expected which was great.  What we did not know was that there is a major balloon festival taking place in Natchez this weekend.  Amazingly, we found a space in a nice RV park right on the river and made good use of the hot tub before heading out for an early dinner.

Tomorrow is a shorter, 80 mile day to Kentwood, Louisiana but with lots of short hills making a total of 2000 feet of climbing and 2000 of descending.
